Took a bit to figure out how to make her convincingly float, but I think I got the effect to a workable state. She's animated in place, then every main bone has a "secondary" controller (an empty), which then layers another animation on-top to provide the floating effect.
Hermione has her main hip controller parented to another empty, and then I animate that to maintain contact between the two.
I'm so happy with the vibe of the piece. I'm messing around with some particle effects for the "magic." Would like to include that, but if it's cheesy or distracting, I'll leave it out (real magic is invisible, anyway).
