Review:
A good H game must have good porn material. I think we can all agree on that.
But must an H game have amazing gameplay to be considered a good H game? well, not if you ask the 10,000 people that have purchased the game in the past 4 days since its release.
The dilemma of covering new top sellers with poor gameplay always tears me inside: should I recommend a game that barely functions as one?
So I've reached the conclusion that figures speak louder than my own opinion. I'm in no position to decide what is a good or a bad game against factual numbers.
And well.. the game just came out, and I'd rather cover relevant content before it becomes irrelevant, so lets jump into the good, the bad, and the ugly of Ukiyo Illusion Fair:
Before we start with the good, lets start with the UGLY, because I have to get this off my chest: The game's actual name is - Ukiyo Illusion Fair ~A story of a summer festival in which twin messengers of God stand up despite being r*ped by Hyakki Yako~ / 浮世幻想縁日〜神様の使いの双子が百鬼夜行に犯されながらも立ち向かう夏祭りの物語〜.
Why in god's cock Japanese devs have such a hard-on for long ass mouthful titles?
One day I'll need an explanation from a local expert.
Now we can move forward to the bad, so later you'll have something nice to look forward to:
🕹️ The gameplay: It's just not it. The sad part is that it could be incredible! If only the devs cared..
Ukiyo Illusion is a side-scroller beat 'em up, where you control twin Kitsune guardian goddesses.
Your goal is to defeat all the enemies in each stage you advance to, and face the final enemy - a new type that gets added to the roster of future threats.
Your tools of combat include multi air jumps, ground combo, strong aerial stomp, ranged attack, guard, and dodgeroll.
Along with you plays your Kitsune sister, who's controller by an AI, and can be switched to whenever you want.
As long as you roll out of the heavily telegraphed attacks, you're basically immortal. But that doesn't mean that enemies will simply drop dead to your feet, no sir.
Every single enemy is a goliath of HP, a mobile brick wall that is waiting to absorb your infinite frustrated kicks and flimsy paper seals.
Spongy enemies and easy combat are one thing. But you know what? I've played games with similar traits before that were still FUN!
Even repetitive games can become satisfying to play with an engaging player feedback.
But as you can already imagine, every kick sounds and feels like the girls legs are made of wet noodles.
Enemies don't even have hurt animation, or at the very least even flash their models to indicate that they took some form of damage. (their HP bar decreases at least)
Spamming aerial stomps is the safest and fastest way to deal damage, which funny enough is the only move that does add a little feedback with screenshake.
Every few stages you'll face a boss, which seem to share almost the same moveset as every other boss.
You can make things go a bit faster by changing the difficulty to Easy and upgrading your stats at the hot spring breakroom area, but spoiler: everything still tanks. (but not as much)
At least the game is short, so we can focus at the real reason why this game got any attention:
💕 The H content AKA The Good:
Is it really that good? short answer - yes.
Long answer - yes, but you gotta bear a few things in mind:
- 95% of H content is forced sexual assaults. So the heroines almost never willingly offer their bodies for pleasure.
- There are plenty of Futa and Pregnancy scenes. However, they can be turned on / off. With that being said, turning them off means less content to explore.
- There are over 18 models that sexually interact with the girls whenever they get knocked out, but none of the animations can be viewed in gallery mode.
- Gallery mode is for game over Live2D scenes only. You can mix and match every type of character as the active and passive ones.
For those unfamiliar with Japanese folklore, Chimimōryō is a term that refers to monsters of the mountains and monsters of the rivers, and whoever modeled them did a great job.
The entire game does feel like one big sexual fantasy (or nightmare, depends how you look at it) that probably depicts pretty well how an army of horny mythical monsters would unleash its sexual frustration upon mankind.
Almost every monster is massively hung, I mean fuck, even some of the possessed male humans have horse cocks. I was slightly disappointed that the devs didn't take the opportunity to have the monsters use their dicks as live weapons.
Every single enemy is visibly primed and ready to impregnate you at a moment's notice.
Now, while pregnancies are great visually in the Live2D game over scenes, their 3D presentations are quite comical, in a good way.
It takes 5 minutes to complete a full pregnancy, which is when the girl loses all of her health and shoots out a censored baby with the umbilical cord still attached.
I've seen all kind of pregnancies in games, and it's always fascinating to see how every studio handles it. Usually it's pretty mild, like popping a monster or an egg, but here we get the full no pulled punches visuals, and I honestly love it.
Then there's the Futa "infection", where an enemy slug's toxin makes a girl grow a huge dick.
Futa scenes happen as soon as one of the girls is nearby a female villager or her own sister (results in game over).
You can access the hot springs that are run by two horny tanukis to upgrade your stats with currency you found, or by selling your body to them. Probably my favorite scenes watching the girls get drilled by a huge squirrel with balls bigger than their heads.
Gallery (bed) and bathing (hot spring) are also present to view Live2D animations, and cleanse the girls bodies.

All in all, the 3D animations and Live2D are done in pretty high quality, which represents a huge contrast to the poor gameplay.
This is absolutely a game I would recommend for H content alone.
It has plenty of great material to keep you entertained at night, but keep in mind that you'll have to get fully defeated by every single enemy to fully unlock the gallery.
At the end of the day, it's still a game that sold over 10,000 copies in 4 days.
I may not approve its gameplay direction, but you'll probably get your money's worth if you're looking for some good porn with a game in it.
